Join us for this insightful evening to learn about the different hormonal events that occur during your menstrual cycle. We will explore the 4 unique hormonal phases that occur within the cycle, and the different moods and symptoms common to each phase.

The hormonal fluctuations that influence your cycle, can also impact things like your sense of wellbeing, exercise routine and productivity. We will discover how to optimise these phases and understand evidence-based solutions that can help you support you through each phase of your cycle. We will also look at the importance of tracking your symptoms to develop body awareness, identify imbalances and notice patterns.

Maya Meetings: The Power of Moon Cycles – An Astrological Journey

Join us for an evening of learning, inspiration and connection. Maya Meetings women’s-only events start with a talk and continue as an informal get-together afterwards.

MAYA MEETINGS presents

THE POWER OF MOON CYCLES: An Astrological Journey

with Nymph of Neptune

Thursday 21 March 2019, 7.30 pm (door opens 7.15 pm)

Join astrologer Nymph of Neptune as she takes us on a journey to understanding the full power of the moon cycles.

Full moons are always a time of culmination, of closure and of reaping what we have sown. New Moons that occur only 2 weeks later are a time for new beginnings, planting our seeds of intention and meditating on what it is we wish to achieve in the following six months. Crucially, the two week period between these moon phases are sensitive, fertile ground for putting into practice any visualisation tools or meditative practices that help us follow our dreams. Nymph of Neptune will show you exactly how to maximise the use of this gestation period so you can leave feeling inspired.

This event coincides with the Full Moon in Libra on March 21st, which brings to harvest the past six month cycle and leads us towards the powerful New Moon in fiery Aries on April 5th. Nymph of Neptune will dive deep into the analysis of this Moon cycle and give concrete everyday examples of how to harness the energy to manifest what you want in certain areas. The Aries/Libra axis concerns the balance between the independent self and how we relate to others or show up in our close relationships. Where are we giving too much of our power away? Or do we actually need to be more open and allow others to enter our life without fearing we will lose our independence?

*Please note this is a women’s only event.

CAN CREATIVE AND PHYSICAL INTERESTS HELP US DEEPEN OUR APPRECIATION OF LIFE?

An Exploration from Tango to… Sewing

with Maria Filali

Thursday 21 February 2019, 7.30 pm (door opens 7.15 pm)

…in search of a feeling of unity between mind and body, between awareness and intuition, and in order to find a harmonious feeling of ‘being in the present’, Maria Filali will be sharing how her personal exploration over the years developed, her thoughts and conclusions so far.

Maria is a remarkable tango professional performing and teaching all over the world. However, over the years, she has explored many disciplines involving body and mind – sometimes for many years, others for only a few months- but always in search of a higher SENSE of things. This includes an academic education in dance during childhood and young adult life :Classical, then folklore, mordern, contemporary dance. Later Feldenkrais, acting, singing, yoga, tango, gyrotonic and many others – and always accompanying her… sewing!

This talk will explore bridges between apparently very different disciplines and what unifies them. Allowing oneself to « work » between conscious and unconscious creating a link between body and mind, between invisible and visible finally resulting in a feeling of being ALIGNED in one’s everyday life.

*Please note this is a women’s only event.

ABOUT MARIA FILALI

Openness and connection. If you had to pick two words to summarize Maria Filali’s personal and professional career, these would fit.
A connection between dance and other body-centered disciplines.
A connection between Argentine tango and other arts, including theater, opera, film, video, and contemporary dance.
And a connection with exceptional, internationally renowned partners.

Maria is a classically trained dancer who chose to make tango the focus of her career twenty years ago. She regularly performs and teaches at international tango events and festivals all over the world. She is also completing a training course in Gyrotonic, a body-centered discipline that will serve to further enrich her tango teaching.Through her personal life and professional career, Maria continues to pursue her priorities, namely being open-minded, striving to be an excellent artist and teacher, and cultivating meaningful relationships with others.

BALANCING HORMONES NATURALLY

with Abi Osho

Thursday 17 January 2019, 7.30 pm (door opens 7.15 pm)

It’s a simple fact: we blame hormones for many of our daily mood challenges, frustrating moments, mood swings, brain fog and lack of energy to name just a few. Deserved or not, it is clear hormones play a significant role in many of the body’s functions, including our digestive system.

Hormone change can cause a wide variety of physical and emotional symptoms. Oestrogen and progesterone are the main hormones that affect women’s health. Each of these hormones has a broad scope of functions that extend far beyond reproductive health. As we get older, our bodies naturally decrease the production of oestrogen and progesterone. These two hormones exist in a delicate balance, and when thrown out of balance, may cause various health complications.

Come and join us and to find out how to support your hormonal balance naturally.

SEX[UALITY] AND THE CITY: Female Subjectivity in Architectural Space

with Tatjana Crossley

Wednesday 24 October 2018, 7.30 pm (door opens 7.15 pm)

Drawing from the text by Beatriz Colomina in ‘Sexuality and Space’, this talk will explore how architecture and design has historically shaped gendered space and, more generally, subjective experience, looking at both built and unrealized architectural projects.

Tatjana Crossley will examine how subjectivity and perception is manipulated by space and what implication that has for the design of not only architecture but also the cities in which we inhabit.

*Please note this is a women’s only event.

ABOUT TATJANA CROSSLEY

Tatjana Crossley is currently a PhD candidate at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London. Her research focuses on the psychological and philosophical construction of body image as it relates to ‘immersive’ environments, which include virtual realities and the architectural spaces that test our sensory perception. She is examining how the design of space affects subjects within and their perception of ‘self in space’ and ‘self to others’.
.
Tatjana completed her Masters in Architecture at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, Bachelors in Architecture at Rice University and has practiced at the architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, San Francisco, developing the designs of high rise buildings in China. She has always been interested in how to implement, amplify and manipulate subjective sensory experience in her designs which has led her to her current PhD research.
